Q. Can I adjust the Temperature settings?
A. Yes. Due to the long life heavy duty silver plated type of contacts used, the temperature setting typically matches up with the printed numbers on the thermostat with a possible variation of 10 degrees. This is normal.
In order to obtain an efficient setting of the thermostat, please make sure that all the electronic equipment is off in the cabinet and that the cabinet is at normal room temperature. Once normal room temperature is obtained inside the cabinet, turn the temperature dial down just until the fan comes on. Now, very slowly turn the temperature dial up until the fan turns off. Next, increase the temperature dial another 2 or 3 degrees above the turn off point. This should provide a very good cooling range for your equipment.
It is not uncommon for ambient room temperature to change significantly during the seasons. You may decide to readjust the thermostat from time to time, if so, please follow the above procedure to obtain good cooling performance.
Q. Why isn't dust a problem?
A. Dust is not a problem due to the very high quality motor used. If you wish to try and clean the fan, disconnect the power cord and use a compressed air can or a vacuum with a brush attachment. It is not recommended to uninstall the fan or remove the grilles, since this would represent unnecessary work.
Q. Can I check the AIR FLOW?
A. Airflow is very important for proper cooling of your equipment. Having said this, the following procedure will assure you that your airflow is adequate.
Open the front door or doors to you cabinet, or slide the TV out a ways to allow for a larger opening in the front of the cabinet. Test the airflow through the fan by turning the fan on manually with the thermostat. Feel of the air output of the fan and take note. Close the doors or slide the TV back in place and feel of the air output again. If the air output feels the same and the noise level of the fan does not change, then you have a proper amount of airflow. If you find it difficult to test the airflow with your hand, tape several thin strips of tissue paper outside the cabinet just above the fan so that the strips hang down over the fan grille. Watch the amount of extension and fluttering the strips obtain with the airflow in both cases. Again, if there is visually very little difference in airflow, then your air flow is adequate.
This test should not be used to completely circumvent the installation instructions. The basic principle of drawing air into the cabinet from a lower front location is still very important.
Q. Do I need to test CABINET COOL?
A. Testing is not necessary, but if you want to test the operation of CABINET COOL at any time, simply turn the thermostat control through it's entire range a couple times and observe that the fan comes on when the thermostat is adjusted all the way down and that the fan turns off when the thermostat is adjusted all the way up. Following this test, please refer to the F.A.Q. titled Can I adjust temperature settings in order to properly reset the thermostat to the proper operational temperature setting.
